Doing missions is full of contrasts. For example, progress at times is quite slow, and yet God continues to surprise us and bring joy & excitement to our missional journey. Sometimes I feel quite lonely & alone, but at the same time never been more closer to our Lord who is walking beside us. Our daily life reminds us of what we do not have, but it also reminds us how in Christ we possess everything.
I love these contrasts… for they take me deeper. I want to go deeper. I don’t think I could be satisfied with just being in the shallow end. I believe there is a sense of greater freedom in the deeper end. Of course, it’s also more frightening. But I find strength from what Jesus said to the blind men in Matthew 9:28-30. Jesus said to them, “According to your faith let it be done to you.” The outcome was that they moved from total darkness to light. Their sight was restored.
Please pray for us that our faith in Christ & His Word will continue to deepen.
The month of January was quite busy. Apart from our regular ministry responsibilities, we had another outreach to the college students before they went home for the long Chinese New Year break. Our OMF team of 3 couples had an encouraging time preparing & ministering to these young people. It is our prayer that after they get back from their break, we can start a couple of Bible study classes with some of them.
Also during the 4th week of January, Jeanette & I with co-workers & volunteers from Tandi Gospel Center held a winter camp at a local elementary school. Over 50 students participated. It was wonderful to witness the love & truth of Jesus at work. Summer camps & winter camps are very crucial for us because it is through them that some of the students will start coming to the gospel center.
Here is a video from the winter camp & also some photos from the college outreach.
