Taiwan is a small island near the southeastern coast of China, and its people are mostly ethnic Chinese. Although Taiwan is advanced in technology & has the middle class who is becoming more Westernized & wealthy, most Taiwanese are working class people who work long & irregular hours, and who do not have the luxury of higher education or access to resources that can help them overcome their family & social problems. According to OMF International, Taiwan has one of the highest divorce rates in Asia.
Most Taiwanese are very spiritual & religious, but only 2.8 % of its population of 23.6 million people are evangelical Christians. From the working class of 15 million, only 0.5 % worship & follow Jesus as their Savior & Lord. This is the reason why Jesus called us, the church, to “be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea & Samaria, and TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH (Acts 1:8b).”
