This summer we will be heading back to the U.S. for our 1st home assignment.  OMF missionaries usually stay on the field for about 4 years followed by 1 year home assignment.  During our home assignment period, we will visit & report to our partners who have been supporting & praying for us.  We are truly looking forward to seeing everyone & sharing all that God has done & is doing in Southern Taiwan.  We have so much to share with you because what our blog posts can say is limited, not to mention there are no words to describe God’s graciousness & power.

Home assignment is also a time when we can raise the awareness of spiritual needs in Taiwan.  What Jesus said in Luke 10:2 is indeed true.  He said, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”  If any of your churches, small groups are interested in hearing about missions in Taiwan, please let us know.

From now until our home assignment will be quite busy as we finish up our ministry responsibilities with our local Taiwanese church, our responsibilities at Tandi Gospel Center, and college ministry with our OMF co-workers.  They all have been sources of tremendous encouragement & the means to see God at work.  This 1st term has been an invaluable learning process for us as a missionary family.  We are also busy preparing & praying for our home assignment provisions & needs, so that our transition will be a smooth one.  We are praying especially for our daughters, so that they can transition well to their new schools.  It will be a big change for both of them switching from a small missionary school to public schools in the U.S.

Although Tampa was our last home before coming to Taiwan, we have decided to do our home assignment in Chicago, a place where Jeanette & I grew up because that is where our parents are.  My parents & Jeanette’s mother are all in their 80’s, and it is our hope that we can spend quality time with them, and be there for them since we have been away for too long.

Please keep us in your prayers, so that we may finish our 1st term well, and that we will be a source of encouragement & challenge to our brothers & sisters in Christ back home.
